The Hoppy Brewer team wishes a Happy National Lager Day to the people of Gresham! Today, December 10th, marks National Lager Day – a day for celebrating lagers! Although lagers are typically associated with summer, there’s nothing stopping lager lovers from enjoying their favorite lager all year long.
Lagers are made from bottom-fermenting yeast, or yeast that can develop in colder temperatures. Before refrigeration, brewers achieved the cooler temperature needed to make lagers by brewing in dug-out cellars that were filled with ice.
