Happy Homebrewing Legalization Day
One of the upcoming beer-related holidays is Homebrew Legalization Day. Homebrewing was legalized on October 14th in 1978 by President Jimmy Carter. The practice of homebrewing had been banned in the 1920s due to prohibition. After its legalization in 1978, however, its popularity soared higher than its pre-prohibition popularity. This was because ingredients were easier to come by and making liquor wasn’t as dangerous as it was before. Homebrew Legalization Day is a great day to be appreciative that we have easy, legal access to a hobby that, for many years, was illegal.
